HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office says its deputies responded to a call around 11:30 Wednesday morning about someone supposedly pointing a gun at people and vehicles in Holland Township.
The sheriff's office said in a news release that some schools in the area went into "Secure Mode" after learning of the report near 96th Avenue and Riley Street. However, deputies later made contact with the man and said there evidently was no criminal activity and the concerns were unfounded.
The schools later resumed normal operations.
"As always, the Sheriff's Office appreciates the prompt cooperation of the community and area schools as there was heavy police presence in the area while deputies attempted to locate the subject," the OCSO said in an updated news released.
The sheriff's office added that more information will be released when it becomes available.
