LAKETOWN TOWNSHIP (WOOD-AM) - Parks and recreation officials in Laketown Township have found out that it may cost at least $247,000 to replace the stairs that get beachgoers from a sand dune to the shore of Lake Michigan.
An option that adds resting and viewing balconies would cost at least $291,000.
The old stairs have been disassembled after more than three decades of use.
The stairs were closed in March over safety concerns.
