GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The City of Grand Rapids has announced dates for some upcoming Water Pool-ooza events.
They provide students with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience while learning about the various career paths available in the water industry.

the City of Grand Rapids, in partnership with Grand Rapids Community College and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, is bringing back Water Pool-ooza—a free, hands-on educational series for students and families to explore water quality, sustainability and careers in the water industry.
Water Pool-ooza events provide a unique opportunity for participants to follow the journey of drinking water, engage in interactive exhibits and meet professionals working in water-related careers. With the growing demand for water professionals, these events aim to inspire the next generation of water champions while fostering an understanding of the importance of clean, fresh water.
Water Pool-ooza on the Lakeshore
Saturday, April 19 • 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Lake Michigan Filtration Plant
17350 Lake Michigan Drive, West Olive, MI 49460
- Guided tours of the Lake Michigan Filtration Plant begin every 30 minutes
- Experience the journey of drinking water from the lake to your faucet
- Participate in interactive demonstrations of the water treatment process
- Meet water professionals and explore careers in the water industry
- Registration encouraged but not required

“Water Pool-ooza is an incredible opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience while learning about the many career paths available in the water industry,” said Hillary Caron, water education & programs cordinator with the Grand Rapids Water System. “We hope to inspire the next generation of water champions and professionals.”
The City also partners with GRCC in administering Water & Wastewater Treatment Programs and a Public Works Academy training program for jobs related to municipal water, wastewater treatment and public works.
