Muskegon museum millage up for May vote

MUSKEGON (WOOD-AM) - Voters in Muskegon County will decide in May whether to approve a millage to expand and upgrade the Muskegon Museum of History and Science.

Lakeshore Museum Center Executive Director Melissa Horton tells WOOD-TV that the improvements are needed.

"It is not really ADA compliant, and so we're here in 2025 and we don't have really accessible entrances and bathrooms for our visitors," Horton said. "That’s a big deal."

"We have about 64,000 objects that we hold in trust for this community," Horton said. "We have a couple big issues with our current facilities that we need to address."

If passed, the millage would cost taxpayers $31 a year per $100,000 of taxable value.
