GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - Grand Rapids Public Schools superintendent Leadriane Roby says every school in the district will have secure entrances with cameras starting this month.

She says they are implementing the "Raptor Visitor Management System," which will quickly conduct background checks.

"This particular program quickly provides background checks of every visitor to our schools, helping to ensure the safety of our scholars," Roby said.

Roby also said Dean Transportation will soon launch its first electric bus.

The district aims to have a fleet of 15 electric buses hit the road over the next several months, Roby said.
