GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - Board Chairperson Eddie Tadlock tells WOOD-TV that funding concerns and volunteer burnout were among the reasons for the death of Festival of the Arts after 55 years in Grand Rapids.
"Basically, the volunteers were saying, 'You know what? We’re tired,'" Tadlock said.
Tadlock says there was a unanimous vote last week to shut Festival down.
The board announced Saturday it was ending the event.
Tadlock says he remains hopeful it could return next year if a new board comes in with new ideas.
