East Leonard Elementary and Stocking Elementary will be closing their doors for good.
Both schools will be repurposed as part of GRPS' Reimagine Plan. They will be the first out of a total of 10 schools are that planned to be shut down. The others are planning to be closed within the next several years.
The district is investing $305 million to help improve and enhance its current programs. GRPS says the closings are in part due to declining enrollment and the poor condition of the buildings.
