MACKINAC ISLAND, Mich. -- Mackinac Island is the number one place to visit in the United States during the fall according to USA TODAY's 10Best Reader's Choice poll.
Mackinac Island Tourism Bureau executive director Tim Hygh says fall on the island is a remarkable experience with brilliant fall colors and the tranquil atmosphere.
The recognition comes in time for the annual Fall Fudge Festival which will be held from October 2 to 4. Guests will be able to partake in fudge-making demonstrations, scavenger hunts, tours and more.
Other locations making the list include Rochester, New York, Lafayette, Louisiana, Gatlinburg, Tennessee and Allegany County, Maryland.
