WYOMING, Mich. -- The Wyoming Police Department says officers shot and killed a man who was armed with a handgun early Tuesday morning.
The shooting happened on Lemyra Street near Jefferson Avenue just after 1 a.m.
Officers were called to a home for a report of a "unwanted 31-year-old man" who was violating a protective order. Officers arrived on scene and learned the man may have fired a weapon inside the home. The officers located the suspect and confirmed he was armed with a handgun. Two Wyoming officers fired shots, hitting and killing the suspect.
No one else was injured during the incident.
The officers are on paid administrative leave while an investigation is ongoing. That is standard procedure for officer-involved shooting incidents.
The name of the suspect has not been released.
