OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. -- The Ottawa County Board of Commissioners is selecting Patrick Waterman to serve as the county administrator.
Waterman is currently the Deputy City Manager for the City of Wyoming. He previously served as Ottawa County's Deputy County Administrator and as Hudsonville's City Manager.
With more than 23 years of local government leadership experience and more than 30 years in planning and community development, Waterman will bring expertise in strategic planning, economic development, capital improvement planning and public finance.
Waterman holds a Master of Public Administration from Grand Valley State University and a bachelor's degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Michigan State University.
He has emphasized community reconnection, sustainable growth management and strategic planning as priorities for the county. Waterman also acknowledges workforce retention, housing affordability and groundwater retention as challenges the area is facing.
The Board of Commissioners will finalize a contract for Waterman in the coming weeks. A state date will be announced following an agreement on a contract.
