Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson is announcing his run for governor.
Swanson joins Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson for the Democratic primary.
Republican state Senate Minority Leader Aric Nesbitt has announced his candidacy and Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan has announced his run as an independent.
Swanson was appointed sheriff in 2019 and won the seat in 2020.
