Muskegon County declares state of emergency after storm

Muskegon County is declaring a state of emergency two days after severe storms caused road closures, power outages and damage.

Consumers Energy is still working to restore power to customers in the county.

County emergency manager Renee Gavin says teams were assessing damage in neighborhoods on Thursday and recommended residents report their own damage through a link the county shared on social media.

The emergency declaration will open funding and resources for the area.
