Grand Haven city leaders are approving upgrades to the city's social districts.
Grand Haven Main Street Downtown Development Authority executive director Chandi Pape says they will close a portion of Washington Avenue to keep people in the downtown area.
The city council approved the social district for the next three seasons this year instead of opting for a single year approval.
Pape says the extended approval gives them the ability to develop programming and expand on it year over year.
