West Michigan entrepreneur killed in Tennessee plane crash

GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating a small plane crash in Tennessee that killed the 45-year-old chief executive of Scarlett Incorporated.

James Scarlett was the pilot and only person on board, authorities said.

The crash happened shortly after takeoff from Knoxville.

Scarlett was flying back to the Ford Airport.

Scarlett Incorporated is a woodworking solutions company based in Kentwood.
