Michigan agencies partnering to provide free gun locks

Several state and local agencies are providing up to 75,000 free cable-style gun locks to anyone who needs one to keep children safe from unsecured firearms.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services says they are partnering with local MDHHS offices, Michigan State Police and local health departments to keep Michigan children and families safe from firearm violence and tragedies.

Within the last year, the state has seen several cases of children dying or being critically injured after finding an unsecured, loaded gun.

A list of locations with the free locks is available at Project ChildSafe's website.
