GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - Governor Whitmer is calling for lawmakers to pass legislation to make community college tuition-free for every high school graduate in the state.

Affordability was a key focus during her sixth state-of-the-state address last night.

"I cannot solve inflation alone," Whitmer said. "What we can do is make life more affordable by lowering costs on the biggest items in your monthly budget."

Whitmer also proposed a rebate for new vehicles, an effort to construct new housing and rehabilitate old housing, and a tax credit for those who are taking care of senior family members.
