Judge: Ottawa Co. not bound to $4M payout to health officer

A judge is ruling Ottawa County is not bound to a $4 million settlement with administrative health officer Adeline Hambley.

Judge Jenny McNeill cancelled the rest of the testimony on Friday after a lunch break and denied a motion to enforce the alleged agreement.

Hambley's lawyer Sarah Howard says the Ottawa County Board of Commissioners agreed to a $4 million payout in exchange for Hambley to leave her position.

County attorney David Kallman says the deal was never agreed to.

The groups will enter into mediation in February.
