Skunks purchased in the state of MI could have rabies

The state of Michigan says skunks purchased from certain retailers could have been exposed to rabies.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services says skunks purchased in the last six months from Countryside Feather Farm/ Rose's Skunks in Attica or from a seller in Chesterfield Township or New Baltimore seller linked to Rose's could have been exposed.

Officials say they do not know how the exposure occurred.

MDHHS is attempting to contact anyone who purchased a skunk from the facilities.

Rabies is fatal to humans and animals who contract the disease.
