West Michigan library millage returning to November ballot

The Patmos Library millage is once again up for a vote in Ottawa County.

The library became part of a controversy in Spring 2022 when parents in Jamestown Township expressed concerned over the type of books in the library, including LGBTQ+ material.

The library says it has around 90 pieces of material including LGBTQ+ storylines out of their inventory of 67,000 items.

The 10-year millage increase has been rejected by voters twice now.

The library uses the millage to keep the facility open and the previous millage expired in 2022.
