OLIVE TOWNSHIP (WOOD-AM) - Six employees at the Ottawa County Health Department have been laid off in budget cuts.
They were reportedly hired using coronavirus-related funding.
"A lot of those positions were using the funds for things totally unrelated other than COVID," former employee Aaron Stauffer told WOOD-TV. "So, it’s really frustrating to see the money there and not being used. It kind of feels like it’s being wasted just because there is a specific agenda going on."
Stauffer said he feels the department was targeted by commissioners backed by Ottawa Impact.
