Narcan dispensers now on Ferris State campus, around Big Rapids

BIG RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - Ferris State University now has Naloxone available on campus and around campus in Big Rapids.

A university program is using a $1.2 million grant to support the program.

The state is providing the nasal spray, which helps to reverse opioid overdoses, for free.

"Narcan saves lives, which is so necessary due to the rise of opioid use," Central Michigan Recovery and Education Network Project Director Gail Bullard said in a statement.

The medication can be found in old newspaper boxes.
