GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - Horse-mounted Grand Rapids police officers will soon make a comeback downtown.
Chief Eric Winstrom says they should be out Friday and Saturday nights.
“People are more likely to come and say hi to an officer that's on a horse versus one that’s sitting in a patrol car,” Sergeant Joy Matthews told WOOD-TV.
Use of the mounted unit was paused during the pandemic.
