Holiday travel projected to see record highs this weekend

(WOOD-AM) - With the Fourth of July weekend finally here, officials at the Gerald R. Ford International Airport are expecting tens of thousands of travelers to pass through.

It is projected that over 80,000 travelers will by flying through GRF Airport, as guest traffic is anticipated to see a new record that was set just a few years ago in 2019. Nationally, projections show almost three million people traveling today alone.

Officials at GRF also say that air travel isn't expected to see as many delays even with the poor conditions in the air due to the Canadian wildfires smoke.
