Jail sentence for man who threatened wife with gun at home daycare

GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - A four-month jail sentence has been handed down to the owner of a residential daycare in the Cedar Springs area who admitted to assaulting and threatening his wife at gunpoint while children were in their home.

During sentencing, Judge Sara Smolenski rejected Thomas Cronkright's request to return to his family.

Earlier this month, he pleaded guilty to aggravated domestic violence. It was part of a plea deal that led to other felonies getting dropped.

Police say Cronkright used methamphetamine the night before the incident last month.
