Grand Rapids day care has license suspended

The Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs is suspending the license of a day care in Grand Rapids.

LARA says home day care provider Datasha Chapman failed to act in a manner that was conducive to the welfare of the children, did not keep her home clean, safe or comfortable and did not keep dangerous items away from kids.

The state says Chapman let several relatives live in the home without informing LARA or conducting background checks.

The day care is located on Benjamin Avenue near Alexander Street.
