GR man arraigned after child brought handgun to school

GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) The man whose son brought a loaded handgun to Stocking Elementary last month has been arraigned on two charges.

27-year-old Jaquon Tucker faces a six-year sentence for fourth-degree child abuse and being a felon in possession of a firearm charges. The firearm charge is a five-year felony while the child abuse charge is a misdemeanor with a maximum sentence of one year.

The third grader told authorities he brought the gun to school by mistake after allegedly grabbing the wrong backpack from his home while on his way to school.

Tucker's arrest didn't go without incident, as a four-hour standoff took place last week with Grand Rapids Police officers.
