(WOOD-AM) - Officials in Grand Rapids have announced plans for a completely new lodge at Martin Luther King Park.
Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation Director David Marquardt said the project consists of tearing down the old building and constructing a $18 million lodge in its place. The hope for the new lodge is to add more opportunities for local residents, as well as a large gymnasium for basketball courts, space for a fitness studio and a new pool house separate from the lodge.
City officials hope to start construction by next year.
