Martin Luther King Park to receive $18M update

Grand Rapids' Martin Luther King Park is on track to receive a $18M update.

GR Parks and Recreation Director David Marquardt says the current plans call for demolition of the building.

The new facility would include a gymnasium, fitness studio space, a separate pool house and more.

Designs are expected to be finalized this summer and bid will be accepted this fall.

The city hopes to begin construction next year.
