Police department closed in Fennville

FENNVILLE (WOOD-AM) - Fennville is closing its police department after ten years.

Mayor Dan Rastall tells WOOD-TV the city's police chief stepped down in January.

The Allegan County Sheriff's office is now policing the city with a full-time deputy on site, along with a school resource officer.

"They are assigned to the city, just like when we had our city police department," Rastall said. "If there was an emergency outside of the city limits and our officer was the closest person in the area, we would provide mutual aid and respond."
