Ex-Hartford police chief arrested on felony drug counts

(WOOD-AM) - Paw Paw officials announced that the former Hartford police chief was arraigned today on several felony charges, including delivery or manufacturing of narcotics, extortion and embezzlement.

Tressa Beltran was given a $100,000 cash surety bond as she faces an additional six other charges. Investigators received a tip last year that Beltran was allegedly stealing narcotics from a drug drop box at the Hartford Police Department. After further investigation, Beltran was caught in the act and was arrested.

Beltran resigned in January of this year after 33 years with the department. Officials have now turned over the case to the Michigan Attorney General's Office to handle the charges.
