Grand Rapids arsonist convicted of first-degree murder for 2020 death

GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - A Kentwood man was found guilty on all charges for the murder of a man that dates back to 2020.

Chad Robert Bruining, 43, was convicted today on charges of first-degree homicide and second-degree arson for the murder of Todd Cappendyk. Bruining set the victim's house on fire on Oct. 25, 2020.

Bruining faces a life sentence without the possibility of parole. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for June 28.
