'I'm thankful:' GR woman receives double kidney transplant

Paula Woods is counting her blessings as she puts it after being saved from two kidney transplants in two separate decades.

In 2000, Woods found out she was experiencing kidney failure and had to be put on dialysis. In need of a transplant, the more realistic donation would have to come from her brother who was incarcerated in the Michigan Department of Corrections at the time.

The public outpour would eventually result in Woods receiving the life-saving surgery and far more than she could have anticipated.

12 years later, Woods found out she was experiencing kidney failure and would require yet another transplant. However, the second time around would only further Woods' belief in the power of organ donation and community.
