U.S. Rep. Dan Kildee stepping away for cancer treatment

U.S. Representative Dan Kildee is stepping away from his office for a few weeks after receiving a serious, but curable cancer diagnosis.

The Flint Democrat was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma in one of his tonsils.

Kildee released a statement saying they detected the tumor early and have a removal surgery scheduled.

He says his office will remain open to serve his constituents.
