GAINES TOWNSHIP (WOOD-AM) - Kent County Sheriff's deputies say a three-year-old boy has been found dead in a retention pond roughly 30 or 40 yards from his home in Gaines Township yesterday afternoon.
Authorities were called after his parents noticed the boy was missing from their home at the Woodfield Apartments near 60th Street and Eastern Avenue.
"We just believe this is a simple accident, a tragic accident, where a kiddo was able to get past a door," Sgt. Eric Brunner told WOOD-TV.
