Ronald McDonald House hoping to hit fundraising goal for expansion

GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - The Ronald McDonald House in Grand Rapids is reaching out to the public in an effort to reach a $2.5 million fundraising goal for an expansion.

Executive Director Ellen Carpenter says they want to add another eight apartments and other amenities at its current house on Cedar Street.

Carpenter says 10,000 families have stayed there over the past three decades. 5,000 have been turned away.

"It's really hard to turn away a family that needs us, so growing now and into the future is absolutely part of our vision," Carpenter said.
