Residents file civil lawsuit against Ottawa Co. board

Ottawa County residents filed a civil lawsuit claiming the Open Meetings Act was violated when the Ottawa County Board of Commissioners ousted the county administrator, health officer and ended the Diversity and Inclusion Department.

The lawsuit argues the items were not on the agenda, which denied community members the opportunity to speak on the issues.

The suit is asking the court to declare all decision made during the January 3 meeting invalid.
