Court blocking ouster of Ottawa Co. health officer for now

A judge is allowing a temporary restraining order to stop Ottawa County Commissioners from ousting the county administrative health officer as her lawsuit moves forward.

In February, Adeline Hambley filed a lawsuit against commissioners backed by Ottawa Impact.

The lawsuit claims commissioners cannot fire a health officer in the state of Michigan without cause and the commission has not provided cause that Hambley is not doing her job.

The temporary restraining order will prevent commissioners from taking any action against Hambley for now.

A hearing on whether the restraining order will be extended is scheduled for March 13.
