W. MI counties offering free radon testing for National Radon Action Month

Several West Michigan counties are offering free radon testing as part of National Radon Action Month.

Radon is a radioactive gas that has no smell, color or taste.

The surgeon general says it is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S.

The Kent County Health Department and Barry-Eaton District Health Departments are offering free radon test kits to residents.

To use the kit, you hang a filter inside your home for a few days and then send it in to be tested.
