John Ball Zoo says their 16-year-old black-footed cat, Oscar, has died.
Oscar was born at Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and moved to John Ball Zoo a year and a half later.
The zoo says he has fathered two kittens.
Oscar was part of the Black-footed Cat Species Survival Plan.
Zoo officials say he appeared to have an illness in his intestines and became extremely lethargic.
