East Grand Rapids resident Jennie Kortman is sharing her colon cancer story with the hopes it will help other people.
Kortman was 39-year-old, in good health and pregnant when she received her diagnosis.
Doctors were able to wait until she hit 32 weeks in her pregnancy and then delivered her daughter early so she could begin receiving treatment.
Kortman underwent a bowel resection and chemo.
Now, baby Emersyn is two-years-old and Kortman is cancer-free.
Doctors say there has been an alarming trend of younger patients diagnosed with colon cancer.
