MI giving $7M for lead abatement

The Michigan Children's Health Insurance Program is awarding four cities in West and Southwest Michigan grants for lead mitigation.

The state awarded a total of $7M statewide.

Benton Harbor received $100,000, Muskegon received $880,000, Grand Rapids received $700,000 and Battle Creek was awarded $1.5 million.

The money can be used for blood testing, lead removal projects, inspections and more.
