GRPD looking to add diversity to agency

The Grand Rapids Police Department is hiring, with a goal of increasing diversity.

Kristen Rogers, a deputy chief for GRPD, says they have 21 openings.

Rogers says they want good people to work with them and anytime they can diversify, the better off the department will be.

The department had been criticized for the lack of diversity in their most recent graduating class.

GRPD says they are trying to find new ways to reach candidates, like visiting military bases and historically Black colleges.
