A West Michigan wedding venue will continue to not allow same-sex marriages despite a ruling from the Michigan Supreme Court on Thursday.
The court ruled businesses cannot discriminate based on sexual orientation or gender identity, however David Kallman, a lawyer for the venue, says the owners religious beliefs are also protected under the first amendment.
Broadway Avenue opened its doors this month and received attention on social media after a post detailed their policy on same-sex marriages.
Owners Nick and Hannah Natale say they believe a marriage is between a biological man and woman and their business practices will continue to reflect their beliefs.
