GR doctor banned from prescribing controlled substances

A Grand Rapids doctor will no longer be able to prescribe controlled substances after alegations he forged opioid prescriptions for his own use.

The U.S. Department of Justice says David D. Sova agree to paying $170,000 in civil penalties in court on Monday.

The civil complaint alleged opioid, hydrocodone and oxycodone prescriptions were written for patients who never received the prescriptions.
