Trinity Health Saint Mary's Grand Rapids is welcoming four new K-9s to their staff to help comfort patients and keep the peace in the hospital.
David Kiddle, director of security and emergency preparedness at Trinity Health Saint Mary's, says his priorities for the security department include service, security and safety and the dogs fit into those priorities.
Kiddle says so far they have had 50 incidents where the dogs have helped to de-escalate a situation.
While the dogs are not therapy dogs, they do make people happy.
The dogs are also trained in detecting explosives.
