Michigan football planning Grand Haven beach party

The Michigan Wolverines will hit the Grand Haven beach later this month.

The Grand Haven City Council approved a summer event permit this week that allows the Wolverines to host their event with the condition that no barricades or roped off areas will be allowed.

The mayor was the sole opposing vote on the permit.

Interim City Manager Ashley Latsch says the primary concern was exclusive use as historically they have not allowed that kind of use of public property.

The team will celebrate its annual family fun day on July 23.

The Wolverines will most likely bring their own security to help with crowd control.
