Beach fights in Grand Haven blamed on booze

Grand Haven State Park reopened on Tuesday after multiple fights forced police to close the beach and south pier on the Fourth of July.

Andrew Lundborg with the DNR says several hundred people were on the beach when the fights broke out on Monday.

Police say one person was arrested and charged with assault.

Officers say alcohol is banned at the state park, however they believe it played a big role in the fights.
