GR doctor facing charges for practicing with suspended license

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel says a Grand Rapids doctor is facing a felony charge for practicing while his license was suspended.

Dr. Husam Thamin Abed of Sterling Heights is facing one count of unauthorized practice of a health profession.

The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulation investigated Abed's urogynecology practice in Grand Rapids and filed an administrative complaint against him on May 17.

The complaint alleged incompetence, negligence and lack of good moral character.

Abed's license was suspended because of the complaint on May 23.

More investigations were completed after Abed allegedly treated a patient in his clinic on May 28.
