Program preparing local youth for workforce

A Grand Rapids employment academy is preparing young people for the workplace through a program called GRow1000 Academy.

The program, GRow1000, began in 2020 with the goal of employing 1,000 youth during the summer.

GRow1000 Academy is a spinoff that focuses on long-term employment.

The academy focuses on training 18-to 24-year-olds with 40 hours of preemployment training.

After the training, the individuals are eligible for a job that will last four months so they can begin networking.
