Murder trial paused by jury COVID-19 outbreak

GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - A double-murder trial in Grand Rapids is paused after several jurors tested positive for COVID-19.

Closing arguments had been scheduled for yesterday in the case of Juan Garcia.

Kent County Prosecutor Chris Becker says conflicting attorney schedules and vacations planned by jurors may further delay the trial once the quarantine is over.

Garcia is accused of killing his former girlfriend and a friend of hers in 2020.
